La Cholla Boulevard

The La Cholla Boulevard project (Magee Road to Overton Road) widened 1.7 miles of an existing two-lane roadway to four lanes and included a new bridge over the Canada del Oro Wash. WDG scope included planting and irrigation design, compliance with Pima County Environmentally Sensitive Roadway Guidelines, riparian mitigation plans, erosion control plans, aesthetic treatments for sound barrier walls and retaining walls, and coordination with the public artist. Overtime, the median and street-side plantings will provide shade and visual continuity with the surrounding desert.

A multi-use path, bike lanes, and a connection to The Loop make this section of La Cholla appealing and safe for pedestrians and bicyclists.

The roadway widening involved the disturbance of steep slopes which required proper erosion control methods.
